-Why Filmatic?

Historical Overview

The business was started by Johan Beyers (the current CEO) in 1979, operating out of his garage in Paarl. Initially Beyers did all the work on his own, from conceptualizing and designing to the building and commissioning of the equipment, mainly for the dairy industry. The popularity of the model 3000 machine, specifically with dairy farmers, necessitated the appointment of the first two employees during 1980 to assist with manufacturing.

Filmatic entered the export market in 1985. This necessitated the appointment of skilled personnel and restructuring the company, seeing an engineering office, a marketing office and an administration office being established and by December 1990 the personnel contingent numbered 12 people.

Between 1991 to 1998 Filmatic not only improved our existing products, but also diversified the product range by adding pick and place cappers, inline pump fillers and unscramblers. This enabled the company to serve the needs of the customer far more efficiently and turnover increased to R26 million and the workforce to 47 people.

Due to the move towards extended shelf life products, Filmatic made a strategic decision in 1999 to leverage ourselves to the top-end of the market by developing technologically advanced equipment to serve this particular market segment.

This phase saw the development of the Rotary Flow meter Fillers, Rotary Net Weight Fillers, as well as rinsing equipment, which would ultimately serve the Ultra Clean market. During this period until 2002, the export marketing drive was intensified and new markets penetrated. Filmatic achieved the acclaimed ISO9000 accreditation during 2001 and the workforce grew to 75 people.

During the last 2 years Filmatic started reaping the benefits of its strategic decision to move into the top-end of the market and the accompanying huge investment in research and design as substantial export orders were procured.

The last word

Why Filmatic?
Traditionally our products have a cost advantage over European imports due to being manufactured in South Africa where the labour rates are significantly lower than in export markets.

The quality of our equipment can compete with the best on the first world market and equipment quality is benchmarked on European manufacturing standards. Technologically we can provide a whole range of products to suit most requirements.

Understanding the different cultures in local and foreign markets is important to ensure the supply of total filling solutions. Fulfilling our quality policy to ensure that product quality and service levels will exceed customer expectations puts us a step above that of the competition.
The quality of service and maintenance levels is of high standard. Cost will be competitive and response times quick as transport from SA will not be necessary. (Regional support is driven through agents)
